Green Island

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is home to over 70 sand cays and tropical islands. Green Island is the only one to have rainforest growing on it. Located 27km from Cairns, Green Island has attracted tourists since the 1950s. Indeed, this is where the world’s first glass bottom boat was built. Surrounded by fringing reefs and seagrass beds, Green Island looks like a tropical paradise when seen from above.

Outer Great Barrier Reef & Oyster Reef

We continue our Great Barrier Reef adventure, heading out over the Outer Great Barrier Reef. From above, you truly appreciate the size and scale of the mighty Great Barrier and its over 2,700 individual reef systems. With clear blue waters, you can often see all the way to the sea floor, which can be as close as 18m beneath the surface. We fly over Arlington Reef and Oyster Reef, both popular day tour destinations.

Upolo Cay

Sand cays can be remote and isolated, not to mention beautiful. Upolo Cay has been naturally formed and is a relatively ‘new’ sand cay system, which is sometimes completely submerged by the Coral Sea, pending the time of day and year. From above, Upolo Cay is a streak of white, a bright beacon amongst the surrounding azure waters.

Cairns

We track our return journey to Cairns, to maximise your low level flying experience of the Great Barrier Reef. This scenic helicopter flight is a ‘must do’ in your itinerary. Don’t forget to bring the camera.

In Flight Audio Tour

Each guest is provided with a headset, enabling easy communication between themselves and the pilot. Your pilot and guide knows this region well and will share stories on the major landmarks throughout your journey.
